Specimen Feng Shui ReportConsultant: Joanna Greenway ExternalNotes
The unit has a good flat clear space in front of it for chi to accumulate. The main flow of energy will come from the opening between the medical centre and the building facing you, unless the whole of the gardens next to the road are removed and a very wide path is put in. The most important recommendation is that nothing be sited directly in front of your door in the way of benches, bollards, trees, lamp-posts etc, nor directly in line from your door to the opening leading to the car park. The further anything like that is situated to one side or into the middle of the plaza, the better. Priority 2As the main flow of energy that reaches you passes the front of the medical centre before it gets to your door, it is going to be low in vitality and pick up illness vibes on its way. It would be excellent to have trees, plants and/or running water between you and the medical centre to deflect / transform this flow. If there is no official planting, maybe they would allow you to sponsor a planter with evergreen bushes in it, or a group of small trees ( rowan / birch?) in a safe spot between you and the Centre door. I have recommended internal placements to counteract this influence as well. It would also be useful to have something sited in the plaza to visually break the line of the left-hand edge of the building opposite, where it sides the path to the car park. Trees would be best. Something else that would help steer more energy through your door would be a gate or partial blockage of the passage between your side wall and the Medical Centre. It doesn't seem likely, but I mention it just in case. Priority 3:SignageSignage for the business is key outside. Best colours are any shade of red or purple, or sky blue, then either pale green with touches of black, or stone/off-white with highlights in gold . The best position for a wall-mounted sign is wherever it can best be seen from the car park entrance. It should be well lit, even in the daytime. If you have a hanging 'flag' sign it should be to the left of the front door, looking from the outside. The door and window frame should be red/purple/sky blue as well. Auspicious measurements for the height and width of the signboard are 26.5" or 32.5", or multiples of either number. Sometimes it is possible to get a 'good' height or width but not both. Priority 4: Door directionThe best achievable bearing for the main door to face is between 85 and 88 degrees. This is a supportive compass sector for F., and has some money influences associated with it. At the moment it is on 96 degrees, but that was not with it pushed firmly shut. I think 85 - 88 would be achievable and have enclosed some instructions on taking a compass reading and setting a door on a bearing. It would be best to wait now until the door has been painted, then take a reading with the door shut to see how far off 88 degrees it is. Minor adjustments can be made by inserting a thin wood fillet along the inside of the door frame, somewhat like draught excluder, or by shaving off a sliver from the inside edge of the door frame. The compass you used for the original reading is not accurate enough for this - I can lend you one, or you can buy them at most hiking shops. I enclose the one you sent me. InteriorPriority 1: keeping a yang atmosphereKeep the interior as light and spacious as possible. The floor will bring in lots of reflected light from the window if you keep it as pale as practicable - stone/light brown/light maple. Pale wood cupboards, glass and white/cream/clear acrylic display units, plenty of mirror, halogen lights over the displays. Rounded and curved edges / lips to display units. Touches of sky blue in display accents and accessories would set the right energy and go well with the wood finish. Products should be separated into male/female/unisex/designer and junior, and labelled. Priority 2: placement of receptionFor maximum amount of wall- space for display, I recommend you have the reception desk in the middle - see layout diagram attached. This also gives you maximum storage and countertop space for different functions. As you would then not be next to the window, a low backing - board for the window-display would prevent accidents and give a little privacy to seated customers. This central position would ensure that F. / the receptionist is not directly in the path of any illness influence when the door is opened, and it would face the major 'active money' sector of the room. There should always be a vase of flowers on the counter in line with the middle of the door. Priority 3: Toilet placementThe toilet position needs compensating for. I am assuming it will be sited on the side wall, in which case the door into the toilet should hinge on the right as you enter. If it can be sited on the back wall the door is already hinged correctly. The walls and floor should be beige/stone/yellow and the toilet seat and door should be kept closed. Priority 4: Boss's deskThere are two strong positions for F. to face when he is working in the office. I have marked them on the diagram. Best position for the safe (if you have one) is at S in the rear room. Priority 5: test room layoutThe only consideration in here is that any tall cupboards / shelves should be somewhere on the back wall, leaving the rest free for trolleys to be moved around. Priority 6: Prosperity EnhancementsKeep a plant either side of the main door - round-leaved and as big and healthy as possible. You may be using mirrors around the room - it is recommended that you position one at the spot marked M1 or M2 on the layout diagram. In the test room, at the point marked P there should be a picture of a green mountain or a church/temple. It should look as realistic as possible and have a strong sense of perspective, so that it looks like you could walk into and though it. To stimulate the active money area, which is the SE area marked on the diagram, it should be kept as open as possible and ideally should contain fresh water - a fishtank, water feature or bowl of fresh water ( low open bowl, or broad-lipped vase with flowers in.)You might be able to combine it with the houseplant to form a small display. A fountain outside in the plaza opposite the window would be wonderful - the water energy would drift through the window and door - but it's more expense and hassle. Maybe you could have a wall-hung decorative trough of evergreens under the window, and water it daily. I enclose three coins that should be placed under the till or over the main door, yang side, ie side with four (not two) characters inscribed on them, upwards or outward. MiscellaneousThe above are the major feng shui considerations for the unit. If the major items are sorted, the minor details can be left to your taste. If many of the major recommendations cannot be carried out, the smaller details become more important, so if you think several of the above are not achievable, let me know and I'll consider it further. I am happy to give advice on other aspects as they arise, particularly if the 'plaza' has any unexpected features. Let me know nearer the time when you are likely to be opening the new business. Some auspicious dates for the official opening are part of the package, but I don't want to spend time calculating them while the builder's schedule is so uncertain. I will also supply an auspicious date for setting the door bearing if you decide to do it. The almanac I gave you can be used for days for general decisions and actions regarding the business. |
