Feng Shui News: Feel The Chi - The Place To Be!

Spring wood near Whalley North You know how some places perk you up just to be there
a walk through woodland ... a particular bench in the park … that favourite amble along the beach….

In feng shui speak, places that restore and refresh you are known as ‘dragons’ lairs’. You can find them where yin meets yang, that is, where hills meets flat land.

They usually have a source of running water, get plenty of sunshine and are sheltered from strong winds. The vegetation will seem greener and more vigorous than elsewhere.

The energizing chi currents flow through the earth like blood through your veins. They come to the surface at these spots and work wonders on plants and humans alike. Just to spend time there makes you feel more pulled together and peaceful.

Wouldn’t it be great to put together a list of places local to us that held this secret energy,
so that anyone with an hour or two to spare could stroll or potter round the spot, breathe deep and feel the chi recharging their body and spirit! I am aiming to find ten ‘lairs’ this year, so bookmark this page for new information every quarter.

My ’Dragon’s Lair’ for Spring is Spring Wood near Whalley, north-east of Preston. Spring Wood has chi by the bucketful, especially at this time of year when blue and white carpets of
bluebells and wild garlic are thick on the ground, and the young beech leaves filter the sunshine through a vibrant green layer. This is ‘wood energy ’ at its peak, bursting with the power of growth and expansion.

There are gently uphill paths through this small paradise, and the spring to be inspected, and open views on gaining the ridge. There are also picnic benches, toilets, ice-cream van and a magnificent white cherry tree in the car park. It is well-loved by locals for Sunday outings, so be prepared for sunbathers, kids and dogs!

The entrance to the car park is off the B 167 road to Padiham, on the left a few hundred yards from the roundabout junction with the A59.

If you are willing to share the details of a place in the north-west of England that you think is a Dragon’s Lair, do email me the location and I will get to as many as possible.
